Reflexology

Reflexology is a holistic, complementary treatment which is based on the principle that all systems of the body are reflected in ‘reflex ‘points on the feet. Through the stimulation of these points all systems of the body can be balanced, promoting the body’s own healing and inducing a sense of calm and wellbeing.

The body heals itself

Reflexology treats the whole person rather than targeting individual symptoms. Our bodies are well equipped to heal themselves, but this healing is sometimes hindered by the body’s energy being blocked, and this may lead to illness. Reflexology helps to unblock this energy allowing the body to heal itself.

Stress has a huge impact on our energy both mentally and physically. It causes a whole range of biochemical and hormonal changes in the body which in turn, can produce a variety of physical and emotional problems. Many clients use reflexology as a means of relaxing mind and body helping them to cope with their everyday stress and maintain their health.

Maternity Reflexology

Reflexology can help to support mother and baby through the enormous physical and emotional changes that happen during pregnancy. Treatments are tailored to each particular stage of pregnancy, and may not only help to relieve minor discomforts and ailments, but also have a very relaxing and calming effect on mother and baby.

Empirical evidence suggests that receiving regular reflexology during pregnancy not only helps women to have better pregnancies, but may also shorten labour and lessen the need for intervention – The Magic of Reflexology in Pregnancy. Dr Gowrie Motha. Reflexions. Dec 1994).

‘Quite simply everything that happens in the being has a reflection in the feet and everything that happens in the feet is relayed to the person’.
Susanne Enzer. (Maternity and Reflexology Manual 2004).
