Osteopathy

Osteopathy can help you, whether you need pain relief for a chronic (longstanding) problem, an acute (sudden) onset, preventative treatment or just some advice on posture, exercise and lifestyle. Our Osteopaths have a wealth of experience in treating neuromusculoskeletal conditions at any age, from babies and children through to the elderly.

With up to 80% of the population experiencing back pain at some stage in their life and musculoskeletal disorders making up 20% of GP consultations, more people are seeking Osteopathy as a safe, natural and effective treatment.

Osteopaths consider you as an individual

Osteopathy recognises the importance of the link between the structure of the human body and the way it functions. Osteopaths diagnose and treat problems with muscles, ligaments, nerves and joints to help the body’s natural healing ability.

Utilising a highly developed sense of touch, they identify problem areas in the body. Treatment involves gentle, manual techniques aimed at easing pain, reducing swelling and improving mobility. This can involve manipulation which can result in an audible ‘crack’. This is simply the sound of gas popping in the fluid of the joints.

Understanding and treating pain

Osteopathic treatment is often the most effective first line of attack in correcting problems caused by pain. Pain is your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. It is often caused by swelling of tissue, which creates pressure on nerves and leads to discomfort. Seeking early treatment from an osteopath for acute pain often averts the possibility of the condition becoming chronic.

By correcting any underlying mechanical disturbances in the musculoskeletal system, Osteopaths can also minimise the dependency on drugs.

The General Osteopathic Council

Our Osteopaths are all registered with the General Osteopathic Council and Christina is recognised by all the main health insurers, including AXA.
